We have more hot meals for these cold days like this recipe you are going to love.

We have looked up in the recipe book of our close peninsula neighbours, and there is no doubt: we choose cod with cream. One of the most well-known Portuguese recipes and we can totally understand why. Amazing taste! 

Ingredients

Fried, diced potatoes
250g
Cod (previously soak in water to remove most of the salt and boiled).
200g
Butter
20g
Tablespoon of flour

Cream
125g
of the boiled cod water
125ml
teaspoon of black pepper
1
teaspoon of nutmeg
1
Grated cheese
50g

Preparation

Preheat the oven at 220ºC (top and bottom).

In a large pan, melt butter, add flour, and stir. Pour cream and water.

Add black pepper and nutmeg.

Add bacalao and fried potatoes, combining everything.

Place cod with grated cheese on the top into recipients for one. Cook au gratin at 220ºC for 10 minutes.

Chef's tip

Serve this cod with hot cream to enjoy flavour completely, as well as that melting cheese elasticity.
